With a US tour currently underway supporting the Black Eyed Peas, you would think that the P***ycat Dolls have little time for recording a new album, but that, infact, is exactly what's been happening during tour stops.

"We have a few producers on the road with us at the moment, feeling out what's going to happen on the next album," explains long-term Doll Carmit, "and of course Will [Will.I.Am] is also on tour with us, so we're working with him whenever we can too."

Having worked with talent such as Timbaland ("Wait A Minute"), Cee-Lo ("Don't Cha") and Snoop Dogg (the new single "Buttons") on their debut album, "PCD", the girls have a bar to raise with their new material; albeit without the help of lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger.

"Of course you're always nervous when starting something new, and without Nicole recording with us, there's even more responsibility for us to step up and really deliver," says Kimberley.

Nicole, who joined the group after leaving her short-term post with girlband Eden's Crush, was only drafted in to record the groups debut LP before going solo.

"Although I still am very much part of the group at the moment, I'm still heading off to do my own thing in the Summer," says Nicole.

A taste of what's to come from the more-streamlined *****cat Doll line-up was given late last week, when a clip of new track "Dang (Work That)" leaked onto the internet, without Nicole's vocals.

"Yeah, the response to the clip has been great and it's definately a real taster of what's to come from us," reveals Carmit.

With their tour ending in June, after a short trip to the UK, the group are expected to return to the USA to begin studio production properly. The album is expected in October.

I really hope this isn't true! Nicole was my favourite Doll, and I can't see the next album being as good without her.

I think Pussycat Dolls without Nicole will help give the other Dolls more face-time and will be more interesting. As to whether or not Nicole will enjoy solo success is another story.

Wasn't this from PopDirt .... I'm not posting this on the site until I can find some official news source from it, I've not seen some media outlets pick it up yet.

With or without her, probably won't make too much difference, people seem to understand they are a band of odd-sorts anyway (probably part of the appeal) so shoving the main vocals to another member probably won't make that much of a difference.

Just because a said song has leaked, doesn't mean too much yet, I await an official annoucement from the PCD Site or some other media source.

i hope she stays in the band she fits in really well there shes a great singer but i agree the other dolls should have more vocals to sing otherwise it just as well be nicole and her 5 other back up singers.

Would be strange if she did leave

I'd rather see them without her. O.k so she has a really good voice, but she hogs the limelight too much. I don't like it when a group has one member that does ALL the singing. Will be good to hear the others take some lead vocals even if their voices arn't as good. I felt that PCD was basically a Nicole solo album anyway, so she will probably have success now she has the media attention from being with the dolls.

It would be really strange for Nicole to leave, as she is unquestionably the lead singer.

These rumours have been around for so long now, there probably is some truth in it.

Please do not post the same thing twice in a row

According to the Nicole fansite http://www.nicole-scherzinger.net/ Nicole isn't leaving the group, it was posted that:

- Nicole is recording a solo album.
- She is not leaving PCD.
- PCD is not recording a new album while on tour.
- They have no intentions of recording music w/o Nicole.
- They do not have a studio on their tour bus.
- They are not working with Will.I.Am.

More details on the Nicole fansite.

Rumours are starting to get to me, but im really glad Nicole is not leaving Pussycat Dolls, she is lead singer for a reason cause shes good but maybe a song without her singing all of it would be nice as well. I cant wait for her solo album though i bet it would be great

without Nicole it would take some pretty good songs to convince me to stay loyal to PCD, but thats just me

well, from what I could understand some time ago, from an official interview, in MTV Magazine, it was pretty clear from the very beginning that the band is about Nicole being the lead singer and the girls her dancers. This was the idea of the project.
I'm glad Nicole is not leaving PCD, although many rumours about this are going around, since, as someone here said, they will need really good songs to keep the band at the same level, with the same success.
To me PCD, is PCD only with Nicole

I dunno how I feel about this. Nicole is the face and the voice of PCD, so getting rid of her, is basically like starting over. I think the other girls are talented, but it'll seem lik etere's a big "hole" with no Nicole. She's the biggest showman of the group.

but i think the other girls should still have a chance to shine as nicole has had ther turn so, some of the vocals should be shared with other members of the group

nicole is a great singer, but it would be nice if the others got a chance in the limelight. The rest of PCD should get vocals as well.

i love Nicole but i think she should do her own thing and the Pussycat Dolls should keep releasing cd without Nicole ad it will give the other members a chance to sing on the new album
