Britney's new video banned from daytime MTV
MTV has banned Britney Spears' new video from being screened until late at night because it's too sexy.
The singer wears a see-through catsuit and cavorts with a man in an aeroplane toilet cubicle in the video for Toxic.
MTV bosses decided to move the video to the late night 10pm-6am schedule following the controversy over Janet Jackson's Super Bowl nipple flash.
"We always take into account what the cultural environment is on an ongoing basis," said an MTV spokeswoman.
"Given the particular sensitivity in the culture right now, we're erring on the side of caution for the immediate future."
The channel said in all it had moved six videos to its late-night rotation between 2200 and 0600.
Others include videos by alternative rock bands Blink 182 and Maroon 5, and rap-rock outfit Incubus, whose video for Megalomaniac depicts an Adolf Hitler character with angel's wings flying over a crowd.
Incubus guitarist Mike Einzigersai said: "It's ironic that this MTV scrutiny comes from an incident where someone bared their chest in public, while for the first time, our singer has his shirt on for an entire video."
A kneejerk reaction to Janet Jackson perhaps?
Seems to me this is actually quite barefaced cheek from MTV. They showed it on practically constant rotation when they were the only channel with the rights to do so, and now that other channels have the video, they shove it on their late-night playlist. HMM!

It's really getting pathetic now.
If it was the slave video or the Dont Let Me Be The Last To Know Video, I maybe would understand it (although it would be strange too). But in the Toxic vid she really doesnt show THAT much skin. I mean, everything is covered up after all. And its not like the diamonds are on her body, no, she's wearing a skin-coloured sort ot catsuit. Grrr.
But thats America: Violence is normal, Sex is the big danger.
I think MTV's official statement would be something like
'Britney Spears' video for 'Toxic' promotes killing your Ex-Lover and therefore is not fitting into our daily programme'.

And as Makus said - it IS getting patethic now.

It's not an attack on Britney, it's just MTV being SUPER sensitive about the videos they show.
Although really, when you think about it, how can people complain about MTV showing it when it's on all the other channels?

It's pretty stupid, they have to show it because it's on TRL, unless they were planning on having people vote for it and then not showing it.

MTV Uk has definetely increased its video play 10 fold since launching TRL, in the mornings they show last nights TRL top 10, but with regards to peak time music videos, they haven't done that for years.

Not hard really, TRL plays 10 videos, thats gotta be the 10-fold LOL
MTV UK lost the plot in 1999. When I first got cable MTV was only one of 3 music channels for me, MTV was mainly UK based, we had MTV Select (remember that?) those sort of blue-blobs for graphics, MTV Select, Total Request, Mad4Hits, Bytesize etc. Actually had music based programming, now its all "Osbournes repeat" and Wildboys etc.
Not sure if the digital revolution has helped the Music Channels

LOL I remember when we had cable, and say Steps had a new video out, I used to sit for HOURS in front of The Box and every time a video finished, I'd be reallly excited waiting for the next one...now the new videos are simple to come by, which I suppose I shouldn't complain about but it's removed much of the excitement of the music channels.

They dont show anything anymore. Whether its that ditzy **** Jessica Simpson or carmen electra its all reality. Keep the Real World And Road Rules and thats it. Those were 2 of the first shows and they are the most watched.
For my Opinion of toxic
I love it. I like all of the special effects and that stuff
