I know this is being discussed everywhere apart from here :lol2:

What do people think about this new CW commissioned show, taking the Pop Idol series but in the end creating a 7th member of the PCD.

Are they looking to replace Nicole? (In the long run, I'm not talking about the next album here) e.g. get her replacement now, release 2nd album, get fans used to the new member, Nicole leaves end of 2007 early 2008 to go solo ....

Is this just a ploy to keep the Pussycat Dolls in the limelight whilst they record a 2nd album?
Do they really need another backing dancer? ;)

Personally, I don't know if this is good or bad. The Pussycat Dolls have lots of 'ready replacements' surely from their Cabaret act in Las Vegas ... so Im not sure what the show is trying to achieve.

Maybe they think they are the US version of the Sugababes and want an ever-changing lineup! :lol2:

I think we won't know until the show has ended and the new album is released, if suddenly Nicole has less vocals and they are shared out more and/or the 'new' member sings more than the older members then we might have our answer.

What I don't agree with - sorry - are these online petitions, any respectible record label and/or management won't take any notice of them cos everyone has more than one e-mail address and can 'pretend' to be a new-person signing it and therefore getting more signatories than there actually is etc. From experience I know no-one takes any notice of these.

I notice Kim is doing an chart on the PCD Virtual Club thing on the 14th August that might be a starting point to try and get some answers!

I don't understand why they would need to do this, they are hugely successful and it's not like they need the publicity, that is of course unless it is just to find a replacement, rather than a new member. Personally I think they work together well at the moment and a seventh member would just be very pointless. As Matt said if they are simply looking to replace Nicole, why wouldn't they just use one of the cabaret performers. All said maybe they think they need the gimic of this TV show to promote the new album.

I think that after Nicole leaves the band, their will be NO more Pussycat Dolls because the Pussycat Dolls WAS Nicole. Without Nicole as the lead, Melody will step up and I don't think Melody alone can be what Nicole was. And everybody else is scared of Carmit. :(

Also, question to raise.

This surely won't be shown until 2007, with Jan-Feb being the earliest time. Nicole (amongst others) have been talking up the 2nd album already, so they obviously know where they are going with it and probably already done vocals for it ...

Surely any 'new' member might be too new to even make it on the newa album, unless of course this is going delayed into mid-2007 but that would mean nearly 9 months without a single ...

A lot of this doesn't add up, we need more than the press-release for this as that doesn't give us any information either.

Could this do more damage than good? It's very strange.

Yes, easily,

Simply put, its just very strange, the only obvious reason is that they are replacing a member before they have left.

OR of course this 'new' member will only be a bit-part member but that doesn't add up with the TV show lol

Seemingly this will be shown in January, probably on a Monday night at 8pm by working out The CWs programs and how long programs run for and their breaks etc.

This wouldn't affect any album recording, Nicole will probably sing it all anyway, but if the 'new' member is her direct replacement then surely they need vocal time on the album, just hope the album producers are up for this, either that - as I said before - the new album won't be out for another 6-9 months unless they are gonna rush it out, which would be bad.

It is a bit strange, why do they need another member anyway don't they think the band is big enough already??
if it is to replace Nicole they could just do what Hear'Say did to replace Kym  instead of adding another member then a few months later Nicole leaves.
Something doesn't add up but im sure it doesn't matter to the record company peeps because either way they are gaining money from whatever avenue the girls decide to go down.
Personally though i think its stupid for Nicole to go solo off the back of ONE successful album!

It does fit with all the rumours that Nicole is going solo and it's the only possible reason at the moment.

that is true but they might do us all good by doing a publicity together to confirm the need of this show, and as for changing the line up - they are always changing their line up act since the pcd's were founded in 1995 (if i was correct in saying)
