View Full Version : "we will come around to reforming at some stage"

Former STEPS singer FAYE TOZER has hinted the cheesy 1990s pop group may reunite. The TRAGEDY hitmaker is still in contact with her former bandmates CLAIRE RICHARDS, IAN 'H' WATKINS, LEE LATCHFORD EVANS, LISA SCOTT-LEE, whose solo careers have failed to match the worldwide success of Steps. She says, "The record companies have been asking us for years. But because we are all busy, it hasn't happened. "We meet up regularly and the connection between us is still thriving. "I think we will come around to reforming at some stage, but it will happen when everyone has time."

Well, thats not any different from anything she or any of the others have said before is it? Its the diplomatic, non commital answer.
Thats from her interview in Hello this week.

Didn't know she'd done Hello. Must pop out and grab a copy.
It really was an easy answer to the question and I do think they will reform in some way eventually, even if it's just one of those shows that reminisces or for a one off performance. Probably somewhere like G.A.Y LOL.

While a reunion would be cool, like a one night only type of deal, releasing new material would be silly. the Steps sound is not the sound of today. it's in that limbo where it's considered old but not classic. it'd take another decade before they can legitimately say, "we're reforming (cuz now our sound is classic)". kinda like the whole Abba revival in the 90s.

And in another decade, I'm sure they'll still have the same amazing voices with melodic songs...they'll just have ditched the matching sequined outfits and do-it-yourself dance routines. Steps if the world were perfect, if you will. ^_^

I hope they will reunite as well but part of me doesn't because it won't be the same as before.
Im sure they won't want to do all the dance routines anymore and wearing the bright colourful costumes might not happen anymore.
I loved copying the dance routines but I'm older now and don't have the time to spend hours on end front of the TV to get the steps perfect with my mates lol.
I do hope they reunite but it'll be different IF and WHEN they do.
Does anyone else realise this?

Im sure they've thought it through properly and stuff. I mean its not as if they are gonna expect to come back out to get hte same reception as before. They proabably could get it ... but they know the risks involved too. Its their careers thats at stake. I think it be good, the right time and stuff they'd do very well!

I don't think they have much to lose, really. If they bomb, they can't really bomb worse than their solo careers and I highly doubt they would bomb as bad. So many bubblegum pop groups come back with an updated sound and do wonderful, so it's worth a try. They can always go back to being in plays and what-have-you if it fails. Or in Claires case, I'm sure the couch will still be there when she returns.

I've gotten to a point where i don't take much notice everytime a reunion comment pops up, because I know it most likely won't happen any time soon. However, i would love a reunion to happen within the next few years, when music tastes change a little bit and hopefully sway more towards pop again.
I don't think Steps will bomb if they reform, i rekon it'll be big at first because they used to be really popular. after a while it might bomb when people get over the initial hype.

I have received an email letter of this news and i was surprised not because they will be reuniting but of course hearing it again. But all i am praying beyond this is to make this news realisty.
I just get sad reading some of the replies from some members that they seemed to be used to this. Certainly. But i am more on the side praying for their reunion, after Steps splitted, i began to ran out of albums to buy. Just because i don't like most of their albums. I may like only one or two or 3 or more but not that whole songs in an album. Unlike Steps before, i bought from every singles to albums.

To whoever said it, I think its actually factually incorrect to say all their solo careers have bombed. Fayes about to start her 4th musical and has been critically acclaimed in all 3 of the previous. She's also had a part in a film that'll be out next year which theyre saying could well be the next big british comedy........Hardly bombing is it?
H has also been doing very very well. Claire hasnt really tried anything and Lee's slowly climbing his way up. To be honest the only one I'd say has bombed is Lisa and theres still hope for her yet.
