CLARKSON SCRAPS NEW ALBUM?
2007-05-04 04:52:25

Pop star KELLY CLARKSON has reportedly scrapped her new album after label bosses weren't impressed with the record.
The 25-year-old singer suffered a scathing attack from Sony BMG chief Clive Davis after he heard the new tracks, reports British newspaper the Daily Star.
A source at the record company tells the paper, "It was an extraordinary presentation. Clive was absolutely merciless in his criticism of Kelly.
"She's one of the biggest priorities on the label and her new songs were savaged." The American Idol winner has been working on the follow up to 2005s best selling album Breakaway for 18 months, but has reportedly gone back to the studio to work on new tracks.

according to RCA, the news reports are fake and they are 100% behind Kellys album.

Yeah I doubted this, I mean they wouldn't have gone ahead with 'Never Again' if they didn't approve

I agree, Never Again is a weak first single, especially compared to some of the singles from Breakaway.

Rumors denied

On Saturday we reported an Internet rumor that Kelly Clarkson had scrapped her new album because Sony BMG honcho Clive Davis was unhappy with it. Clarkson's reps weren't ready to comment late Friday, but over the weekend they issued a rebuttal, reading in part: "Despite rumor-mongering ... there is no dispute between Kelly Clarkson and the RCA Music Group. These rumors ... were based on an inaccurate report about Clive Davis' presentation of Kelly's new LP [at the recent SBMG meeting in Las Vegas]. Sources who were there insist the chatter is not true. In fact, Davis specifically stated that Kelly is 'one of the top four artists at Sony BMG' and wanted to ensure that she is treated as such. There are absolutely no plans to scrap the LP."
