Faye is booked to star in Aladdin at Newcastle Theatre Royal this Christmas.
Faye said: "I'm so excited about coming back to Newcastle and performing at the
Theatre Royal. I have such fond memories of the city". She also said Geordies are just fantastic.
The following phrase may be useful to her:
Eeeh man, ahm gannin te the booza. Translated means: OK, I've had enough, I am going to the pub.:lol2:
I'm not 100% sure but I think she will be the Genie of the Lamp judging by the picture below.

I'm sure Faye's not in it for the money. I suppose she can vary her acting jobs. Hmmm.

Faye doesn't come across to me as someone who would particularly enjoy being in a pantomime.
Pantomimes notoriously pay well, which I presume would act as an incentive.

Im not sure what your point is. If she is in it for the money, what exactly is the problem with that? Its the reason most people work. Thats what it is at the end of the day, people can look at it any way they like but the fact is that celebrities are just doing their jobs the same as any other person. So yeah, of course shes doing it for the money. Same as you do your job for the money or......... * looks at your sig* Charlotte Chruch does HER job for the money. So, what exactly IS your point?
Re faye not being someone who would particularly enjoy a panto: Actually yes she is. Shes really looking forward to it. Tho im sure you think you know better.

Newcastles panto is one of the most popular in the country - 40,000 tickets sold already. The Geordies will love her and she'll probably hate the weather - but she'll love it anyway. She'll have a laugh up here I'm 100% certain!
As for the money - why the hell not, its part of her job, H did it too - three times in fact.
At the end of the day you don't really know that shes not the type to do it, cos she clearly IS the type, as she IS doing it. If she wasn't then she wouldn't.

Im sure Faye isnt that hard up that she has to do work just to get the money so obviously shes doing this because she wants to! Mr W has said panto is one of the biggest laughs hes had and even though you do get paid a lot of money you do have to work very very hard for it. Im sure she will love it. Newcastle is one of the best places to go for pantoas well, none of this cheap thrown together in two weeks crap like some places I could mention! (Our local one os RUUUUUUUUBISH sometimes!)

Faye has recently been promoting the Panto to some squealing local school children.

Magic Steps
Faye Tozer is the latest star name to be added to the panto line-up in Newcastle. Viv Hardwick talks to her about Steps and a career which includes Lady Godiva.
IN the past 12 months, Steps star Faye Tozer has switched from playing Lady Godiva to stage musicals, a stage thriller and, hot off the press, agreed to play the little-known panto role of Scherazade in Aladdin at Newcastle's Theatre Royal from December.
It's hardly surprising to learn that the Tyneside venue has added the 3D cinema screen-style images supplied by Bogglevision of Teesside - enhancing its claim to be the UK's top regional panto. But when it comes to Boggle, you can't beat the story of 31-year-old Tozer, who went from holiday hotel singer and bingo caller to 25m record sales with Steps.
advertisementThe five-strong Abba-esque singing act of Tozer, Ian 'H' Watkins, Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards and Lisa Scott-Lee dominated the charts between 1997 and their acrimonious split in 2001.
But the down-to-earth performer from Dunstable recalls starting out in pantomime at six as a junior dancer with Davy Jones of The Monkees and appearing each year until the age of 11. But this is her adult debut and she says: "Doing this 20 years later, back as an adult, that's scary isn't it?
"I was brought up dancing and I was always doing shows and music and things like that. I also did Dunstable rep theatre and am-dram things and later I trained in dancing as a hobby but I didn't go to stage school and ended up in the Hilton Hotel as a lounge singer, then I did the audition for Steps and the rest is history"
The five were originally just going to front the line-dancing song, 5,6,7,8, but because they did so well "and that wasn't our fault that was your (the UK public's) fault. They obviously felt they could make some money out of us kids."
She admits she hadn't thought in terms of a recording contract until Steps came along.
Tozer has been prepared to take risks after the break-up of Steps and the past 12 months has seen her finish filming the title role in the low budget UK movie Lady Godiva: Back In The Saddle and star in musicals and the stage drama Dial M For Murder.
"When I finish one job I want to find the most diverse thing possible to the last job. For example I'm in Dial M For Murder at the moment, which is a Frederick Knott play, and prior to that I was playing cockney Sally in Me And My Girl to stretch myself and make myself a better actress and singer."
There was a determined effort to persuade Steps to re-form and she says: "I think what's happened is that every time we've been asked, and we were asked quite seriously this year, we were all busy doing different things. Once you come out of a pop group and you try and make your own career that's very precious to you and you've strived to do something so hard to make your own name or to be respected in the industry and to go back and re-form seems to be a bit of step backward.
"I'm not going to do my biography until I'm 60 because I've got far too much to do and I don't want to write a pile of drivel about how I feel. I want to write the real good stories and I've got quite a few stacked up but I'm going to make it a very interesting book."
She does keep in touch the other members of Steps and reckons the first two years were the hardest after the split because the atmosphere had been bad when the band folded.
"Now everyone is supportive of each other and we go and see each other's shows and I've been down to see Claire's baby and support Lee's band The Latch and Lisa's just been doing celebrity Dancing On Ice and H is in Fame at the moment.
"When a band splits people always have to try and blame someone or something, it's bound to happen."
SHE'S not daunted by the idea of eight to ten shows a week in panto. "I'm a hard worker anyway and my previous musicals have been hard work like this and running around screaming my head off in costume, so it's something that I know very well and something I do best. I'm fully prepared and can't wait to see the little kids' faces because we've got so many wonderful things in this panto. I've heard this is the best panto in the country so I'm proud to be part of it.
"I've never had a problem of Steps being linked to my surname, it always will be. I've always been proud of the fact that people know my name through the pop group that I was in and that's nothing to be ashamed of. I think that people outside like to put it down but otherwise I wouldn't be here. It's going to be tattooed on my forehead for life."
Last year she filmed Lady Godiva: Back In The Saddle and calls it a small budget film looking for distribution which went looking for a distributor at Cannes this year. She initially claims to know nothing about Kiera Chaplin, the legendary comic's grand-daughter, being banned from riding naked on a horse in France as a publicity stunt before admitting that Chaplin had been approached to play Lady Godiva before Tozer took over the role.
"There are millions of films made and some of them make it and some don't. I'll definitely be part of a film again, even a small budget one. What I knew about the Lady Godiva thing was that it was a PG or 15 certificate so there was going to be no nude bits and everything was going to be stuck down tightly with toupee tape and no one was going to see anything... they weren't paying me enough for that," she laughs.
"The thing is you come out of a pop group and you don't know what your future will hold and I think I've been extremely blessed that I've been employed and having the chances I've had. So I'm happy and grateful."
