Remeber, hes only just 2months old in the pics. Or are you meaning his birth weight? Cos for a first born thats a blody good weight.

he was over 9lb when he was born, but lost weight cause of the infection

think he was in hospital for afew days after he was born as he was a bit poorly
not sure exactly what

Yeah, no-ones ever been any more specific than that. I think maybe it was a virus because theres loads of those that dont have names, theyre just a " virus". As Mel said somewhere thom a lumber puncture would imply they were testing for meningitis. Thats really bad actually, theyre spose to be really painful. My friend had one done a couple of years ago coz she had meningitis and she said it was more painful than the headache!

Cos he was only in for a week, it suggests it wasn't a major infection. Its likely it was just an infection from the placenta cos he was late. The plancenta starts the rot and can poison (and in extreme cases kill) both mother and baby.
If it had been something as serious as meningitis (they'll have done that test just to rule meningitis out I think - with him being so young its one of the key tests they'd do) he'd have been in much longer.
The trauma of the birth could've affected him too. Babies are susceptible to all kinds of infections early on in life tho.
