Making sense of AOOL video

I think I've made sense of the All Out Of Love video - ok, it's pretty obvious what it's about, but there's always been something about it that doesn't quite fit - it doesn't flow well and it's quite confusing... but I think I've figured it out. In this, H and Claire are in the present, and Ian and Clara are in the past.

At the start, Claire and H move into their new house with their chums.

Next we go back in time and see Baroness Clara who used to own the house. She is upset with her husband.

Meanwhile, back in the present, H and Claire entertain their guests and H picks up the candlestick. He tells his guests the murder story of the ancient house. He leaves the room to get some drinks...

... and then the camera changes and we seen Ian the waiter leaving the dining room, followed by the random dance bit.

The shot changes to the dinner table. Clara's husband is touching another woman. Waiter Ian goes and tells Clara. This is the final straw for her and she storms out.

The next shot, Clara has killed her husband. Some more dance bits...

...and in the final shot, after H has finished telling the story, Claire puts the candlestick back in the shelf.

I dissagree entirely...

its a murder mystery thing... them in costume is them acting out teh murder mystery....

thought everyone knew that?

I think it can be interpretated either way, both ideas seem to make sense.

I just watched it and chrisbailey's interpretation makes perfect sense.

Some cool things I noticed:
-The big dance breakdown in the middle is a bridge for the murder, rather than showing the grim deed.
-Clara (Past Claire) is standing alone in the final scene where they scan across Ian, Clara, and all the dancers. All the rest of the guys are partnered/associating with a girl; Clara's aloneness demonstrates solidarity.

It also took me until I watched it just now to notice that the thing that H pulls away from the hand at the dinner table is the lady's arm. I just never really paid that much attention to it before.

So the moral of the story (video) is that H & Claire will be supergood friend and protect each other forever. (Aww, ain't it precious.)

I allways think of the board game Cludo when I see the vid. The candlestick. the different locations ect....

The video is basically Claire's interpretation of what the song is about....

She had the idea of this grand couple livin in a mansion etc and the guy treats the woman badly - theyre basically no good for each other, and she doesnt love him anymore... so wen the waiter whos obv friends with Claire tells her about the guy touchin the other woman - its the final straw - she doesnt wanna "hurt anymore" so basically she kills him....

and yeh TBH it isnt cut and edited particularly well, but u get the idea of the story that theyre tryin to tell!

the way I see it is that its a murder mystery cluedo weekend kinda thang - when they drive up to the house you see 'posh' claire in the windoe - suggesting its haunted. Basically there was a murder in the house, H is obv telling the story about what happened and we're given an insight as to what happened. It's not them (as in the present them) acting it out tho sean :P

oh and I lovvveeee the mistake in the BB bit, Marky flashes :D

Anyway, if it was a murder mystery weekend, why would there be interspersed shots of them dressed up, and not dressed up. Bah. We know how rubbish the official site was, they probably got it wrong! lol.

... oh yeah, and if the posh H and Claire were just supposed to be the normal H and Claire dressed up for a murder mystery, why is posh Clara looking out of the window when Claire arrives in the car? ;)

Also, when H picks up the candlestick, he waves it in the air as if he's saying "Yeah... she whacked him over the head with it like this..." and then all the guests say "Whatever! Come off it H!"

Oh and another thing I've noticed, the red room that H, Claire and their guests are in is actually the murder room but it's been redecorated.

Also, at about 4mins20secs into the video, I think you can see the camera people in the mirror :D

What's most likely is that the website said it was a "murder mystery video", which it sort of is, but it's probably just been misinterpreted by whoever did the website.

'posh clara' is the ghost of the lady of the house innit!!! As H is telling them the story *or whatever* we see what happened in the house allllll those years ago. I understand - thats the important thing!

HAH tho, soooo about a violent relationship - they're just in denial!!

Again, just watched the video again as you pointed that out - I can see "someone" in the window, but I don't know who. I have a little 320x240 video of it, so it's lacking some detail.

My god, we are reading too much into a little 5 minute music video.

No, you can definitely see old Clara in the window. Not only is she wearing the same clothes, but it looks like her too! :lol:

I don't really think we're "reading into it too much" because it's obviously been scripted deliberately to tell a story and we're just debating which story is right.

I'm just mentioning that I don't have a reasonable-quality video to be able to see. I can see someone/something in the video; but I don't quite have the power to make out what it is. Poor encoding. RealMedia. Old skewl RealMedia.

Not the best image to see it on as it's so small, but it's definitely 'old Clara' and you can tell when you watch it full screen!

As for H saying it's a murder mystery... well he could easily say "It's a murder mystery theme" because it sort of is - there's a murder in it.

But he probably didn't say "It's about some friends who go on a murder mystery weekend and dress up!"

Yeah, H does say its a murder mystery weekend thing, I remember it, just cant remember which programme. Ive got just about all of the AOOL promo......oh dear, ill have to trawl through it ALL....... There was so much itll take me at least 20 minutes, lol! :D
