Erm, I don't even think a P4 3.2Ghz EE could encode a video that quickly after the performance unless it was captured in real time which USUALLY means worse quality.

Actually even a 500mhz can record a live program in mpeg2, no loss of quality, original digital widescreen.... getting one of these tuners soon! Can't wait! :P

Hate to say this, but even this old XP1600 can encode into DVD quality in around 15minutes, and capturing in real time usually means worse quality? you couldn't be further from the truth, a lot of people say they'd much rather have a hardware capture card than capturing in AVI and converting to mpeg due to better quality, theres also DVB cards which save the stream directly to the hard drive, no re-encoding what so ever, unbeatable quality. :)

Anyone offering me to buy me one of these cards?

Believe me when you have a card made in 1997 real time isn't the greatest option.

And you cannot buy DVB-C cards in the UK (they wouldn't work without major emulation anyway) so a DVB card is useless to me so I'll save me cash.

Last time I tried real-time mpeg-2 capture my avi convert method wiped the floor with it so for me it is the best option.

As for real-time capture, tried it again, believe me NO-ONE would want my videos if I did that LOL the quality was poor, as I said my card is OLD technology so I cannot push it too far.
Perhaps I'll invest in a new one if the January Sales have some cheap replacements but I will have to not-do it in real time if you want a video from me that you can actually watch!
