This is from sclub8station:
"It has been confirmed by S Club 8's management that Calvin Goldpink has left the group. His parents urged him to leave the group when they realised that the group was being manipulated by their manager Simon Fuller. The boy's parents were not happy with the huge amount of money that Fuller has made from the whole S Club Juniors/S Club 8 project, which has included tv shows, tours and 2 albums. Although Fuller, who has masterminded the careers of various pop acts including Rachel Stevens, aswell as being responsible for the Spice Mania/Girl power craze sparked by the Spice Girls in the mid 90's, made a large amount of profit from the group (S Club 8), the members made very little in comparison. He has full control of the songs they record and release, and includes cover versions of tracks that he knows will make their records sell.Fuller has also cleverly marketed the group and Calvin and his parents weren't happy with the way that Calvin was being used.Calvin said "I think it's time to move on.I've had a great time in S Club 8 and I will still remain good friends with everyone.I would like to get back to the music someday in the future, and I hope to release a solo album when I'm older and I can have more control over my career. As for what Im gonna do next, I will be getting back to school. My education is the most important thing to me and if the whole music thing goes wrong, I need something to fall back on".Calvin has an army of female fans who will no doubt be devastated by his departure from the group, especially as he currently has no plans to launch a Ginger Spice-esq solo career.Instead he will be returning to school and living life as a 'normal' teenager. Fuller has declined to comment on the matter, but it is rumoured that he will launch a 'Pop Idol' style show to find a replacement for Calvin.A source from 19 has said 'Simon is upset that Calvin has chosen to leave the group. But there are plenty of kids out there who would love to be in the group, and we are going to give them that chance. We are going to make these kids' dreams come true'.
