Sugababes, who release new single 'Caught In A Moment' on 23rd August, are set to wander into a studio to write their fourth album, PlayLouder can reveal.
Talking to Daniel Robson in their London hotel room (wooooooo!), the girls unveiled their new producer and their dream collaborators.
They said these things:
Heidi: We go into the next album in September. That's my third Sugababes album but it's the girls' fourth.
Mutya: Some people never get to that level with albums, which is really amazing.
Keisha: Fourth successful album. It will be successful! We're just working with a brilliant producer. We'd really like to do a collaboration on it, preferably with OutKast if they've even heard of us. Or The Black Eyed Peas. But then again, we'd all have to out-sing Fergie's huge voice.
Heidi: We can't do that!
Keisha: You never know; it depends on what kind of song. She's a good singer, but we are as well.
PlayLouder: You could just try to muffle her up in the mix.
Keisha: Noooo!
Heidi: The point in a collaboration is to share and enjoy, not to outdo!
PlayLouder: Who's producing it then?
Heidi: [To manager] Can we say? We're working with Dallas Austin who done all TLC's early stuff.
Mutya: And he done Kelis's 'Trick Me'.
Heidi: And he's also been working with Duran Duran!
Keisha: And Gwen Stefani's new album. So we'll see what he's got.
The girls also had a pop at groups that swan about looking lovely when they have bog-all talent:
Heidi: I just think it's easy for bands to get away with it these days. I just don't get the concept of someone who's good-looking but can't sing and just blags it onstage everyday, miming to someone else's voice.
Mutya: That's like Phixx. Phixx did a performance on Top Of The Pops. I mean, I remember, when you watch Top Of The Pops 2, where no one used mics, but y'know, we're in the year 2004 now and all they're going by is their looks, and they have no mics whatsoever and it looks really silly. I mean, I don't like them anyway, but again it's looks. And I just think it's silly.
Keisha: I think kids are growing up a lot more now, and they know. They know. There's a new girl out called Jo-Jo, and she's 13. She's really talented. There are great singers like Natasha Bedingfield coming out and there are more people to look up to. Even with Busted, some people might not like their stuff but, whether they mime with a guitar or not, at least kids are looking there going, wow, they play instruments.
Mutya: They're gonna go out and try to do it as well.
