LEE LASHES OUT AT STEPS DUO Sep 28 2004


IT seems ex-Steps star Lee Latchford Evans is either very thick or wrapped up in fluffy cotton wool.

Apparently he's only just realised his former pals, H and Claire, did the dirty on Lisa, Faye and him.

The singer-turned--reality-show star was furious when the pair decided they wanted the band to end so they could concentrate on a career together and believes they had it planned long before the group split.

He said: 'We worked together very well, were successful and all loved it. That's one of the reasons why we didn't deserve to get stabbed in the back.

'I know how long it takes to get a record deal and to produce songs and there is no way they could have left the band and been ready with an album and smiling on TV two months later. Obviously they were setting it up behind our backs, which made me lose all respect for them.'


I had to laugh at the first line, pure genius, doesnt he realise that not many people care now, especially after all this time, even some of the others have made up :lol:

Why is he telling people this stuff now? I totally agree with what he says, its what hes always said i just never thought id see him say it in black and white. Thats very stupid IMO. also like u sed, 3 years later!!!!!!!!

plus if you read the actual OK interview that is from... you'll see that its H he speaks about...

He actually is quite nice and respectful about Claire... cause of what she did that H didnt!

I was hoping that he'd be the one that wouldn't use the steps spli as publicity. I haven't read the whole interview yet and I'm gonna buy OK tomorrow but it would have been nice if he'd just said "Yes it was hurtful, but it happened nearly 3 years ago and I feel it's time to move on"

I kinda did think he wouldnt hold back on his opinions over the split, and I guess seeing that its really the first time he spoken about it then it doesnt seem as bad, if it had been the 50th time *ala Lisa and her 'I didnt want the band to split etc..* then itd be like SSSHH boyo! His comments about the H don't surprise me and its want I think many people have thought all along, H didnt explain his reasons, Claire did! He also says Lisa has made up with PEOPLE (meaning more than one...so maybe the Claire..hachet (not in head) is true :/) - no mention of the Faye tho, which I thought was wierd!

Anyway only H left to do an 'at home'...

Theres no reason to mention Faye. Shes the only one who gets on with everyone so theres nothing to say about her!

Lisa was a madam after the split, but didnt she have the right to be,

Thanks, but I don't need to check the media forum to be sure that this isn't the first time Lee's talked to a journalist since Steps split. Therefore I don't agree that this is the first opportunity he's had to bring this up...

Not that it really matters. IMHO he'd have been better manintaining a more dignified 'it's in the past and I'd rather talk about the future' type of stance. :unsure:

I've not seen him talk about the split before *I don't think..hmmm* but after reading it again, he was a tad ott and harsh! It'll probably not do him much good, so why say that much! I just hope he doesnt do what Lisa does and harps on about it in every other interview :/

Back on topic, perhaps Lee felt he could finally speak his mind, but didn't realize their limelight had well past. Not like they're ever going to get a teary-eyed Barbra Walters Special, or a VH1: Behind the Music or anything. (Although I would love a STEPS: Behind the Music.)

Lets face it Lee did the interview and like all interviews the journo takes the words and then just turns them around to suit the interview

Lee is in a soccer tournament and is trying to be in a band of rock so he would want a harder image thats why he could be coming across as a naughty boy in the interview too

And its not like they had a Record Deal sitting there waiting for them as soon as they split, they didnt sign the thing till what March/April? *has bad memory*
