When Claire Returns....

So when Claire returns (as im hoping she will do some time) what would you like to see her do?

Carry on with releasing singles (like Lisa is doing)
Do some west end stuff ( like H and Faye are doing)
Do some TV stuff whether it be presenting or on a show (like Lee has done)

What do you all think??

I told Claire she should do theatre coz i think shed be really good at it bareing in mind her voice is easily strong enough and i think shes quite a good actress too but she said she wouldnt like it!
But i think shes a terrible presenter ( as are all of Steps cept H IMO) so that just leaves releasing a single which i think is definitly the one she should do anyway!

I always thought H and Claire should stay doing TV presenting. She wasn't the best presenter ever, but she worked well with H and would surely have improved with more time. I could see her presenting "This Morning" or something.

I really wanna sing a duet with her, I've got a really nice slow ballad that would go great with both Claire's and My vocal, but her management were like talking to a brick wall! Hey one can dream! :cool:

Just before the group split, I got to meet our Clara at one of there last concerts. I asked her if she would ever sing a duet wit me, she said yeah but had to be done through management which at the time was Byrne Blood LTD. They told me she was to busy working with H. Now she ain't managed by Tim Byrne. Don't think she's got any management at he moment. :cool:

I seriously think that with the right songs and look, that there could be a DIVA made out of Claire, She's got such a great voice I could see her rivalling the likes of Anastacia and Joss Stone, her voice is/was up to that standard. I think if a record company notice her talent and put money into promoting her she'd go far.

It happened at Showtime at the Stadium where loadsa bands performed songs from musicals, STEPS did a live version of Tragedy, Atomic Kitten did Cats.... etc.

Anyways back on topic..... Is Claire still tied to WEA or is that just as a duo?? I'd love her to do well on another label then Warner will be thinking "****! we missed out there!!"

Last time I heard, she was is still under contract to record with WEA. They hav yet to fulfil the contract as they never actually got dumped. (As far as I know anyway). I heard the only way they can get round it is if Claire recorded a solo album, and it featured an H and Claire duet on it. As long as he appears on the album somewhere, they are still fulfillin the contract. That's what I heard anyway.

its probably like what happened to Louise and Gina G- they were 'dropped' but their r/c had them tied to the deal until the time on it had expired.So even tho in a way they were dropped but still had a deal - it also meant that even tho they could still record stuff (off their ownbacks andown money), nothing would be released under that particular company!!

but i think given hers and H's status when they left steps, they definitely had a lot more bargianing power and say in the contract wouldn't they? i mean they were very popular still as compared to artists that were desperate for contracts, they had labels after them!

Record contracts do not work in this way, so Claire is not waiting for such a time as to when she can release material.

If Claire is still in a contract with WEA and she wanted to release a new single and album, she would need to approach them first with the option to release it through their label. However, if WEA chose that they did not want to be part of such a project, then she would be allowed to search elsewhere for a record company.

For example, Agnetha Faltskog of ABBA fame made a recording contract in the late '80s with WEA of which she would release her new album with them. When making her return to the music scene last year, she had to first ask the label, due to still being in a contract of so many albums with them, if they would be interested in distributing the album. They agreed and so this is the option she went with.

Could you imagine if an artist was waiting for a certain time period to expire just so that they could release new material. Imagine if their contract was for 10 years! It's just so unlikely and there would always be a way around it.

The reason Claire hasn't come back is simply because she hasnt bothered to as yet (not meant to sound harsh). When she does decide she wants to come back, I'm sure she'll approach the appropriate people and start listening through demos and recording new tracks. For all we know Claire might be spending her time off writing new material with which she can take to record companies as possible tracks for her album. I really hope this is the case and wish to see at least a single release this year.

Oh but one thing! I pray to God that Claire doesn't release loads of singles before her debut album, as I believe this is the reason Another You Another Me failed to top the charts. Because people had bought loads of the songs on it already, which were to be the best songs (reason why they were singles), then people were not in a rush to go out and buy the album. If a strong lead single is released and enough promotion to accompany it, then people will go out and buy the album to hear the other material.

Recording contracts generally state you can not record unless you have informed the company beforhand.

I doubt that WEA would want to release with Claire and visa versa... so she has to sit out the contract, which usually goes by one album a year...

So for H&Claire... 4 which means they wont be free till late 2005 early 2006... depending on the contract...

and i think its unlikely that they were dropped, cause a, WEA dont generally do that, b, it was conceiveable that H and or Claire would have gone on to release more material with another company and been successful, if they were dropped completely...

guess we'll see... or not... shes prolly just procrastinating... doing the occaisional now interview to tease us - BITCH!
