i think youll find that gensteps discography is the closest thing to being perfect there is....
but the other one that matt has took the real stuff from.....that steps worldwide discography is full of lots of bootleg cds that dont exist and mixes that dont exist so dont be sending me to look at that one thanks!!!! :-)
eil are a proper business and they arent in the business of selling unofficial items so please dont say it doesnt exist if its not on gensteps or other fan pages.
also id bet that most of the time information are incorrect on both sites. as if you look at cd mixes and the same mixes on vinyl, in some cases they contradict each other!!!
http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=192125
theres the link if you dont believe me madaboutlisa
if you look on eil properly, on an artists page of stuff you can buy , at the top right it says...
click for full dicography
which basically means..come look at what we had for sale but which is long sold out
there was an 8 track promo for this double a side AND a 15 track promo

Our section is identical to theirs (and before people start moaning and complaining its been like that for YEARS and we are in agreement to do it, we are NOT just taking their hard work, they are fully aware that we are doing it!)
Obviously they have changed the pages whilst we haven't .. hence they are different, but apart from that they should be identical.
I doubt thats the only error anyway, when you are trying to get the site online ASAP errors are bound to occur. We'll get around to changing that.

Just because something isnt featured on the discography pages on Steps Worldwide Discography doesnt mean it doesnt exist it just means that no one has bought it to their attention.
Jive did issue a few CDRs which were limited in circulation such as the Chain Reaction Remixes CD see pic !!!
http://www.andimation.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/stepschainreactionmixes.jpg
Further to the subject i really doubt that Eil a respected company for selling promo CDs which i have used numerous times would sell a fake cd especially at a cost of £20 plus because someone would complain.
On the subject of fake CDs there are a lot on the discography pages which are clearly fakes that people have just made on their home pc's such as the Happy Go Lucky promo. I have seen these listed on E bay numerous times and they always sold by someone in Hong Kong.

hmm
yes matt, now ive had the chance to go through gen steps discography i see you have taken on board the fakes aswell
im not saying anything about you copying someones work, i have no issue with that, i know your too moraly sound to copy others work anyway! lol
i do have an issue with someone whos a big enough fan of steps whos spent all this time and effort on a steps website to have such a dodgy discography.
hope that doesnt sound bitchy , its just at the end of the day steps=music and at least the music facts should be right at least.
once again im not meaning to be rude but i know you put a lot of hard work and long hours into the website, im just saying id rather have a complete official discography and remixography of the group first than a new look/designed website every few months.
meant in a kind way ...honest :P

Well I might be responsible for that Stomp video being on the wrong page. Anyway, that's corrected now. I went through the pages and updated mistakes before the relaunch (there were quite a lot of 'Love's Got A Hold Of My Heart' mistakes!)

ahhh..no Happy Go Lucky was actually released in Singapore as a promo only, when 'The Princess Diaries' came out. That promo isnt a fake....

maybe there was a promo out in singapore for happy go lucky Scottie, but have you seen the cover of the one in the discog!!!
im sure this wasnt the real promo, it looks sooooo fake, and if it is the official promo, shame on whoever made it as it looks well naff and amateur looking!!!!

but loadsa promos look like that - the chain reaction promo for example in this topic! it's prob just a dodgy scan!

to clear things up there was indeed a happy go lucky promo, and the cover is indeed that and that is probably just a really really dodgy scan lol. Anyway for those interested the radio edit has the intro shortened and and 'nah nah' part removed as well while the short edit is basically the version taken out from the buzz sampler...
now, back to the main topic....the here and now 15 trk promo lol, does anyone have that :P

This was what was on the Here and Now/You'll Be Sorry 8 Track CDR
1. Here And Now (Final 7" - David Kreuger)
2. Here And Now (Almighty Radio Edit)
3. Here And Now (Almighty 12")
4. Here And Now (Sleazesisters Anthem Mix)
5. Here And Now (Sleazesisters Anthem Edit)
6. You'll Be Sorry (Final Edit)
7. You'll Be Sorry (Sleazesisters Anthem Mix)
8. You'll Be Sorry (Sleazesisters Anthem Edit)
Someone must have it somewhere :P and also the Deeper Shade of Blue CDR with the PA Edit which is 3.38 long the one that they performed to on various shows which came to an ending instead of fading out.

Hi !
My name is Noubar. I am one of the 3 x main webmasters behind the info that’s been compiled on "Steps Worldwide Discography Site" (SWDS)
URL http://www.geocities.com/stepsfan2001/
I saw this topic \ posts and I though best for a representative to site to make a few points and help clarify a few items raised here:
1) SDWS info on GenSteps
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- a few years back I myself introduced both site to one another and agreed \ arranged (as its been correctly reported) to have the EXCELLENT info on SWDS made available on GenSteps.
- My SWDS colleague directly updates our own SWDS site, while at same time provides the updated content of SWDS as zip file to GenSteps team on regular basis so the new SWDS content can be customised to fit into GenSteps format.
- There is a very clear note on GenSteps Discography page that clearly explains this arrangement that in place. So no one in pinching any info.
- We at SWDS just wanted to make sure all STEPS Fans had access to latest STEPS release info \ Remixes and this could be done by joint cooperation with GenSteps which lets be quite honest was best STEPS fan based website at time.
- Those who followed STEPS releases closely will be aware that Jive \ Zomba released various bonus tracks in different regions not available in UK.
- Jive \ Zomba also release many STEPS Promo items on CD and CDR depending on situation (I seen them myself!). Many of these tracks don't get released commercially.
2) User "crash1974" comment ---> "steps worldwide discography is full of lots of bootleg CD's that don’t exist and mixes that don’t exist"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Above statement from "crash1974" is incorrect, all items listed on SWDS do exist !
- If SWDS have it on site that means we actually managed to trace at least one copy of CD\ Track in question.
- SWDS members also had contacts within Jive \ Zomba who were STEPS Music label ........ hence some exclusive info on our site
- SWDS main contributors have other contacts which enabled us to compile over time many rare STEPS promotional releases.
- SWDS also always welcome contribution from visitors who spotted STEPS releases we not been aware existed. We give credit to all those on site.
- also eil.com are indeed a reliable source of Promo items
3) User "hclaire23uk" comment --->Chain Reaction Remixes CD
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Indeed these "Chain Reaction" tracks do exist and I personally have them !
- We have many, many items to add \ update to site and our apologies if this not been uploaded yet ......
Remember we all at SWDS have a 9 - 5 job and this what we do out of our love for STEPS and music. The info on SWDS has been invaluable to many fans to help them track correct STEPS release \ missing tracks from around the world.
We got better things to do than as claimed incorrectly by certain members to put up fakes ! Mind you I am not worried by the odd negative comment like this as its those who cooperate who out working in positive manner now have access to STEPS tracks that not generally available.
We are open minded and if you see anything related to STEPS release do try and contact us. We never claim to know everything, but through our fantastic network and cooperation we built what I would say is best STEPS Worldwide Discography anywhere in web !
Any additions \ corrections \updates by STEPS fans always welcome by SWDS team.
Take care.

if i am wrong i truly apologise.
id like to state for the record that i never ever thought the discography on your site or here on gensteps was out to cheat people or fool them with false information. i just was trying to say from my experience of buying promos, some of the ones on the discography looked questionable and maybe you had been mis informed.
i am aware that promos are released in many many countries around the world and that a lot of stuff doesnt make it onto the final comercial releases and that different countries promos may well get different remixes.
mainly i find it hard believing the baby dont dance promo and the happy go lucky one. i have had an explanation about the happy go lucky promo and am more inclined to believe this is a scan of a real copy, just to me it looked like it was a bootleg copy of a ripped original promo due to the different style of print on the cover.
i must say though that the baby dont dance cd promo!!!!
im sorry but i just cant believe that they would fill a promo with slightly different versions of the wip mix, ive just never seen this done before.
YES I COULD BE WRONG!!!!
but id like to hear all these mixes for myself before i will believe it!!!!! now if anyone in charge of the dicography would like to put some of these files up online, be it dodgy quality or cd quality so we can make our own minds up or even just to share with the fans ,i would think this would clear the matter up some what and also be a very nice gesture.
and please can someone tell me whats on this 15 track here and now/youll be sorry promo as its doing my head in not knowing, surely someone out there must know, especially if you have or had contacts in jive.
matt cant you ask anyone at jive who may know!!!!!!
thanks for your time and i hope its cleared things up and that nobody is offended!!!!! at the end of the day its just my own opinion and we all have one of those dont we!!! :P

As member of SWDS Team I can say we were not offended and happy to respond to questions on this subject, as long as people are open minded and don't act as if they know absolutly everything.
Anyway let me try and clarify a few more points:
1) "Baby Don’t Dance" and "Happy Go Lucky" PROMO CDR Extra un-released tracks
All below tracks on those CD \ CDR do exist and I personally heard them \ in SWDS Archives
1. Baby Don't Dance (Album Version)
2. Baby Don't Dance (Radio Edit)
3. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. Radio Edit)
4. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. Radio Mix)
5. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. Extended Radio Mix)
6. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. Pushing It Radio Edit)
7. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. 12" Pushing It Remix)
8. Baby Don't Dance (W.I.P. 12" Pushing It Extended Remix).
1. Happy Go Lucky (LP Version) 3:33
2. Happy Go Lucky (Radio Edit) 3:15
3. Happy Go Lucky (Short Edit) 1:25
4. Happy Go Lucky (Call Out Research Hook) 0:17.
2) crash1974 ---> i just cant believe that they would fill a promo with slightly different versions of the wip mix
- FYI some tracks get Mixed and then Remixed many times so at end of day the record label has many more versions of track available for possible release than its allowed on a commercial single release
- If you read through CIN Chart rules as dictated by BPI, we only allowed max 20 min of music on a UK commercial released CD single. there also is a limit on number mixes on top of main single version that’s allowed on UK CD.
- Record label at times will release a few CDR copies with a many tracks for "INTERNAL" use or "PROMO", to get view point of various departments , bosses, on which mixes to release
- Record labels also go out their way to release high quality proper Promo’s with proper inlays, and proper CD productions for more general release to specialist Radio \ DJ etc...
So don't be too surprised to find that there are in fact many STEPS Remixes out there that will not be accessible to most people
3) Jive \ Zomba
- FYI before more recent mergers Jive \ Zomba were one of smaller Record labels compared to other BIG players in industry
- Jive \ Zomba were one of the bigger small independent labels at time existence of STEPS
- Jive \ Zomba was a US Corporate type structure, so you find that each regional offices was kind independent , had different resources. So don't be too surprised by some differences in Promo's released
- Locating real Promo CD \ CDR is a real art, as there are indeed some FALSE copied CDR Promo's out there. At SWDS we do our best to make sure only TRUE Promo's get listed and we make sure we heard and happy about the actual remixes to be professionally done to be true mixes
- Note very occasionally some contributors may not have access to scanners or able to provide good quality scans of items (very few cases) as such we have to use whatever scan we can lay our hands on, even put info on CONFIRMED item without scan \ picture.
Once again if anyone has any updates for
"Steps Worldwide Discography Site" (SWDS)http://www.geocities.com/stepsfan2001/
Please feel free to contact us

oh im open minded but i also like to be a little sceptical too...or as i like to say never say never!!! ;)
so if your telling me that the baby dont dance cd with all those wip mixes is in actuall fact an inhouse promo...now that i am more likely to believe!!!!
as i know of other acts like atomic kitten for example who have these promos that arent released to even djs or radio stations.
you can understand though to an outsider that they would question a cd with mixes that arent even on a record anywhere and with the amount of stupid listings floating around on ebay passing themselves of as real, its very difficult when something unusual but geniune comes along. also the fact that so many people can edit and extend their fav tracks on their computers at home doenst help matters either!!!!!
of course the other thing is that now your just giving me a longer list of mixes i need to hunt down!!!! :( :D
